History
In the Reaper’s Game there are the Players and the Reapers. This Reaper’s Game only exists in Shibuya once a person dies from an unfortunate occurrence and gets a shot at coming back to life or seeking higher existence (Angels). The Players are the ones who are playing the game for their lives and if they win they could return back to their lives or continue to play as a Reaper to become an Angel. The Reapers in the game are there to rise up to a higher existence and try to prevent the players from winning the game. The youngest Reaper, at age eighteen, to ever ascend into the rank of High-ranking Officer, Sho Minamimoto shows countless promise among the rest. Of course, however, later it is found out Minamimoto has an agenda of his own—the pursuit of becoming a Composer. To this end he goes as far to chase Joshua, the Composer, into the RG (real ground). He had also found out the Composer’s UG (underground) identity despite the fact the Composer suppressed it; he had been given this information by Hanekoma. There, Sho tries to kill the Composer himself with a pistol but is unable to due to the fact that his powers are still lesser then the Composer’s. This is to the effect that he is shot in the shoulder by the and the bullets Sho shot at Joshua are stopped in mid-air by him. Right after, Sho ran off, seeing the situation as fruitless. Later on, in Week 2 of the Reaper’s Game, Sho is first introduced into the game as the week’s Game Master—but he shows little care for the Game’s rules and doesn’t issue much missions for the duration of the 7 days. During this time, however, Sho begins to bring in Taboo Noise due to the fact he learned how to create Taboo refinery sigils from Hanekoma secretly. By doing this, he erases both Players and Reapers because Taboo Noise do not discriminate and attack both whereas Noise only attack Players. After Minamimoto is defeated by Neku and Joshua, he releases a powerful Level i (imaginary) Flare psych, which apparently erases both himself and Joshua. Although Joshua escapes to an alternate reality and Minamimoto returns in Week 3, emerging from a Taboo Noise refinery sigil in a new body with far greater powers. Later in week three when he makes his way to the Shibuya River to challenge the Composer, after a brief encounter with Neku and Beat, he is sent along by Mitsuki Konishi. After Neku and Beat defeat the GM, they find Minamimoto further along the tunnel crushed under a car and a soda machine, apparently dead.
